Free Scan Terms

These Free Scan Terms apply when you request a free starter scan from BackBond. By checking the acceptance box and starting a scan, you agree to these Terms. If you act for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.
The service is available only to users who are at least 18 years old.
1. The free starter scan
The free starter scan sends up to 100 single-turn test messages supplied by BackBond to the AI agent endpoint you provide. The scan runs against your endpoint. BackBond receives the agent's responses, prepares a private report, and emails the report or a report link to the address you submit. A connection test may send one additional request to check the connection settings. It does not start the scan.
The free starter scan is narrower than a full BackBond assessment. It does not produce a complete BackBond Score unless the report expressly says that it does.
The scan is a limited, point-in-time assessment for informational purposes. Results may contain errors or omit issues. The scan is not a guarantee of safety, security, accuracy, compliance, or future performance. It is not insurance coverage, certification, or professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing the findings and deciding how to use them.
Completing a scan does not purchase, bind, or guarantee insurance coverage or any other financial protection.
2. Your authority and responsibilities
You may scan an agent only if you own it or have the owner's permission to authorize the tests. You must provide accurate connection information and comply with the laws, contracts, platform rules, and third-party rights that apply to your use of the service.
Test messages may cause the agent to call tools, contact other systems, or take actions. Use a test environment or controls that prevent unintended transactions, customer communications, changes to live data, or other real-world effects. You are responsible for the agent, connected systems, and consequences of the access you authorize.
You must not test an agent without permission, interfere with the service, introduce malicious code, evade usage limits, extract or reproduce BackBond's test materials, or use results to misrepresent an agent's condition, certification, score, or protection status.
3. Access and third-party charges
BackBond does not charge for the free starter scan. Your model provider, hosting provider, or another connected service may charge you for requests or usage generated by a connection test or scan. You are responsible for those charges.
BackBond may apply request, concurrency, or usage limits. BackBond may refuse, suspend, or stop a scan to protect the service, enforce these Terms, address misuse, or comply with law. The service may depend on third-party infrastructure and services that BackBond does not control.
4. Data and credentials
The Privacy Notice explains how BackBond handles information used for a scan. BackBond supplies the test messages. Your agent returns responses, which BackBond receives and uses to run the scan and prepare the report. Do not include personal data, confidential information, or regulated data in the agent's responses unless it is necessary for the authorized test and you have the right to provide it. Use test credentials with only the access needed for the scan.
You authorize BackBond to use the submitted connection information, test messages, agent responses, and related technical data to operate the scan and prepare and deliver the report. BackBond may also use this information to secure the service, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations. BackBond also keeps a copy of the test messages, agent responses and results, without your email address, credentials, endpoint or agent name, and uses it to improve its tests and scoring, unless you opt out by unchecking the product-improvement box before starting the scan. You can also opt out later by emailing info@backbond.ai, and BackBond will delete that copy.
5. Your materials and the report
As between you and BackBond, you keep any rights you hold in your agent, the agent's responses, and other materials you provide. You authorize BackBond to use those materials as described in these Terms and the Privacy Notice.
BackBond owns its test messages, test materials, methods, service, report format, and related intellectual property. This does not transfer ownership of your agent's responses to BackBond. BackBond gives you a limited, non-exclusive right to use your report for your internal evaluation. You may not use the report to claim certification, a complete BackBond Score, or insurance coverage unless BackBond has expressly confirmed that status in writing.
6. Service disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the free starter scan and report are provided "as is" and "as available." BackBond disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement to the extent those warranties may lawfully be disclaimed. BackBond does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, detection of every issue, or that results will remain accurate after the scan.
These exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, BackBond will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising from or related to the free starter scan, report, reliance on results, interruption, or inability to use the service.
BackBond's total liability arising from or related to the free starter scan will not exceed USD 10,000.
These Terms do not exclude or limit liability, remedies, or statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
8. Ending access and changes
You may stop using the service at any time. BackBond may suspend or end access as described in Section 3. Provisions concerning ownership, disclaimers, liability, and disputes survive where their nature requires it.
The version presented when you start a scan governs that scan. BackBond may update these Terms for future scans. A later version will not replace the version you accepted for an earlier scan unless the law requires otherwise.
9. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the free starter scan. Mandatory rights and remedies available under applicable law remain unaffected.
10. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing these Terms is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without BackBond's written consent. BackBond may transfer them as part of a merger, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law, subject to applicable law.
These Terms and the Privacy Notice are the agreement between you and BackBond for the free starter scan, except for a written agreement that expressly controls the same service.
